Tej Walia was appointed general manager at Surrey’s Foxhills Club & Resort in August 2018 to oversee a £25m investment and development project. With more than 10 years’ experience as general manager, as well as becoming a fellow of Institute of Hospitality and a St Julian’s scholar, Tej’s career has gone from strength to strength since he was given his management break by Hilton. Since then, he has led several prestigious properties, including Fawsley Hall Hotel in Daventry, Dartington Hall Trust in Totnes, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts in Scotland and was the area general manager for MGM Murthu Hotels. As a native of India, Tej has always worked in the hospitality industry and started off in front-of-house roles in Udaipur and New Delhi in 1998 with the The Oberoi Group of Hotels, Grand Hyatt and The Leela Palaces & Resorts. He worked his way up from food and beverage assistant, to management positions, so plenty of operational experience that has stood him in good stead and given him a solid foundation of knowledge to build from.
