Francisco Macedo is the Operations Director for Iconic Luxury Hotels and Cliveden House General Manager. Having graduated from ISAL University with Honors in Hotel Management and with over 22 years experience in the Industry, Francisco’s earlier career has seen him being involved in several Hotel openings Worldwide as well as projects across Tivoli Hotels as well as Pestana Hotels, before deciding to come to England to broaden his expertise further. Before joining Iconic Luxury Hotels, Francisco was amongst others, the General Manager of Bovey Castle in Devon, where he oversaw the refurb and relaunch of the property with his team, leading to being awarded 5 Red Stars in 2017 after an extensive refurbishment and the creation of a dedicated Red Star training plan. His passion for developing people takes him to work closely with Universities and Colleges and other industry initiatives, coaching, training, and mentoring the leaders of tomorrow. Francisco’s involvement in the industry goes way beyond his work in hotels, and he currently serves as the Chair for the Institute of Hospitality Thames Valley Branch, the London advisory board for Springboard Charity, and is the Industry Lead for the Institute of Directors. Asked about his career highlights, Francisco will always refer to becoming General Manager at the age of 30, being awarded a Scholarship to attend the GMP at Cornell University, and becoming a Master Innholders at the age of 35 as the highlights so far.
