After 4 years at Westminster Technical College Vincent Square studying Hotel Management, in 1978 Tom became the first Trainee Manager at The Dorchester London, culminating in the post of Assistant Food and Beverage Manager in 1981. In 1983, Tom moved to Dukes Hotel, as Food and Beverage Manager. The next role was as Deputy General Manager at The Lygon Arms in Broadway leading on in 1988 to nine years as General Manager at The Feathers at Woodstock. In 1997, he took on the role of General Manager at The Angel at Midhurst. From 1999, he worked with Richard Young at Great Fosters Egham as his Operations Director helping plan and instigate stage one of a major refurbishment of this historic house. From 2002 until 2004 he was General Manager of Studley Priory near to Oxford. Tom joined Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons as General Manager for four years in 2004 and subsequently moved to Gilpin Lodge as General Manager and assisted in the opening of the Gilpin Lakehouse. In 2012, he took on the role of General Manager of Swinton Park, his role encompassed responsibility for the hotel, glamping ground and cookery school. From 2015 to 2018 he joined Wildsmith hotels as Operations Manager for The Ryebeck, Hipping Hall and opening General Manager of Forestside in Grasmere. Thereafter he retired from hotels.
