Amanda graduated with an honors degree in Hotel & Catering Management in 1986 from the Scottish Hotel School, University of Strathclyde and joined Copthorne Hotels as a graduate trainee. She was the company’s first female and youngest GM at the Copthorne Aberdeen at the age of 28, followed by GM roles at the Copthorne Glasgow and Millennium Knightsbridge. She was appointed General Manager of the then Le Meridien Waldorf in 2001 managing the £35 million investment program and subsequent Hilton rebranding. In 2007 she joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as General Manager of the 886 bedroom Excelsior, Hong Kong, in 2009 was appointed GM of Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC and was GM and Managing Director of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok 2012 – 2017. After a lovely year out she returned to Mandarin Oriental as GM and AVP of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London in June 2019.
