Robert was born and brought up in the hotel industry in Scotland & graduated from Robert Gordon University in 1985 Robert, is is now regarded as a veteran of developing lifestyle hotel brands in the Uk and Europe. Robert spent 9 years building the critically acclaimed brands of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin as CEO. He then went on to spend 3 years at Devere as CEO,where he rebranded Village Hotels into Village Urban Resorts and won in 2012 the inaugural Catey for Best Employer in Hospitality. In 2008 Robert was presented with an Honorary Doctorate from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen for his services to the Hospitality industry, and in 2006 he was Awarded a Catey as Manager of the year. In 2007 & 2008 Malmaison & Hotel du Vin were awarded AA Hotel Group of the Year.
