The 2023 Cateys awards shortlist has been unveiled! And we’re very pleased to see a number of Master Innholders shortlisted once again this year.

Heading up our shortlisted Master Innholders is Dr Hilary Cooke FIH MI, owner of Merlin Consultancy and our Aspiring Leader’s course director, who has been shortlisted for the Education and Training Award.

The nomination is a recognition of Hilary’s outstanding contribution to the field of education and training, her work in developing and delivering the Aspiring Leader's course has been widely acknowledged as innovative and effective.

The Education and Training Award is a prestigious accolade in the industry, which celebrates excellence, high achievers, and determined industry experts. Hilary’s shortlisting is a testament to her dedication and commitment to providing high quality training to hotel professionals across the industry.

Master Innholders Aspiring Leader's course is designed to help individuals develop their leadership skills and prepare for management roles in the hotel industry. Hilary’s expertise in leadership development and her commitment to providing invaluable training, have been instrumental in the success of the course.

Also shortlisted for the 2023 Catey’s is Adrian Ellis’ The Lowry Hotel, which is up for the Best Use of Technology Award. The Manchester based hotel is renowned for its spa retreat technology, which includes a cryotherapy chamber, meditation pod, meditation tank, and VR experiences to their guests. Adrian is set to be the chairman of the 2024 Master Innholders Hotel Leadership Conference.

Elsewhere Francisco Macedo FIH MI SJS has been nominated as Manager of the Year and the Celtic Manor Resort has been shortlisted for Hotel of the Year which is managed by Ian Edwards MI.

The winners of these categories will be announced at the Cateys ceremony on 4 July at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, we wish Hilary, Adrian, Francisco and Ian the best of luck. Their nominations are well-deserved, and we are proud to have them both as a part of our amazing Master Innholders community.
